Goodbye 06

Tis a new year.  As I have already written 2007 on a check to the daycare, I’m reminded how cool I write my 7’s.  As a son of an engineer, I quickly picked up some drafting habits.  First, I love mechanical pens – despite that feeling of inadequacy after the last piece of lead is used up and I clik-clik-clik-clik…  Second, printing is distinguished – you can always tell who’s done enginnering drafting by their block lettering.  (This actually drove me to boycott cursive – it’s the bain of us leftys).  Third, and probably related to the other two – I put a midline dash across the vertical bar of my seven (kinda like a backwards “F”).  I propose it is another status symbol – although handwriting analysis will probably say I don’t wash my hands after I use the bathroom (which I do) and that I have a off-balance toe (not sure about that one).

While I have given out one resolution in my blog (ditching Windoz), all the things I have in my list to do in 2007 are all house related.  The primary issue is my landfill, commonly known as a garage.  I’ll get to that first becuase it’s the prereq. for my other tasks:  building a cubby system and desk for my 9 year old’s room, a desk and toy bins for my 6 year old’s room, and bi-folding doors for hiding the misc. junk in my office.  And, finally, making access spaces to the unaccessable parts of my attic (completing the place to put my OTHER junk that’s sitting in my office).

During my 2 week holiday (the benefit of years of service and working with a NASA contractor), I got some quality time… with my 360.  The kids ran around at times, but dude, I got like 4 ranks in Rainbox Six: Vegas.  Met 20+ people playing, added about 7 to my friends list (they added me cuz I’m like wicked awesome with the auto-shotgun).  So, while I’m going thru gaming withdrawals, I’ll be thinking about cleaning up my garage.
