Streaming movies… finally

OK, so I’ve finally worked out the details in getting movies on my PC upstairs to play on my 360 downstairs hooked together via wireless.

I’m using this guide here: MeGUI for the 360.

while I could use Windows Media Player 11 to share the media, I also found that TVersity does pretty well, after setting it for using on the 360 (Page 7 of the guide).

It’s NOT automatic. I create a d2v file for the VOBs, then a avs file. Then it’s pretty automatic. I’m using an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ with 1GB on DDR400 RAM and a 2.5 hr movies takes about 8 hrs to encode.

I tested with a dream works movie (about bees) and no jaggies, no skips and it looked crisp on my HDTV. Exactly what I was looking for!
