Change is scary

this week has to be one of the most change-ified weeks of my life.

First, my wife and I stood as character witnesses for a friends going through a divorce. At the time his wife left, he didn’t have a car nor a job. We loaned him our SUV to use, and he subsequently is trying to stay employed. However, those two facts led to him not get primary custody over his child. We see what’s it’s doing to both him and his son and our hearts are hurting for both.

I read this morning that there’s been some staff changes at my church. I’m not sure how accurate it is (i just got confirmation though), but it bodes a serious wind about the responsibility that we share as a church-goer. I’m going to help one of the staffers start a ministry by creating a website, so that’s a good point.

The kids had med checks for the school year, and my oldest went for an EKG as a precaution. The wife has a heart murmur and I have history on my side of CAD. Still, it’s scary when something could be wrong with yer kids.

The shining point this week was taking the wife out for our anniversary. We saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at Jones Hall with the Houston Symphony. We LOVED it and it was a short walk back to where we were staying. A band with real band instruments and they were AWESOME performers. Plus, we love the symphony anyway. We also saw Hancock, which I thought was a GREAT movie. All and in all, too short, but good to get away.

So now, it’s back to “normal” life where we see what the next strange turn will bring us to next.
